Only if they post in the trap channel. The channel should be clearly warned and kept somewhere normal members have no reason to use.

No. The core protection only needs to detect messages inside the chosen honeypot channel.
Can staff reverse a mistake?
Yes. Staff can unban from Discord log buttons or the dashboard, and the action is kept in the audit log.
What permissions does it need?
Ban Members, View Channel, Send Messages, Manage Messages, and Read Message History. The setup wizard checks the important bits before enabling.
